What Are The Common Symptoms of PCOS?

What is PCOS? PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It is a common hormonal disorder that affects women of reproductive age. PCOS is characterized by a combination of symptoms, including irregular or absent menstrual periods, excess androgen (male hormone) levels, and the presence of multiple small cysts on the ovaries. The exact cause of PCOS is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Insulin resistance, a condition where the body's cells have difficulty using insulin, is often associated with PCOS. This can lead to increased insulin levels in the blood, which in turn can contribute to the overproduction of androgens by the ovaries.
